Purpose

This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely perform basic scaffolding work.

Scaffolding work involves erecting, altering or dismantling a temporary structure to support a platform from which a person or object could fall more than four metres.

This unit applies to scaffolding work involving:

modular or pre-fabricated scaffolds
cantilevered materials hoists with a maximum working load of 500 kg
ropes
gin wheels
safety nets and static lines
bracket scaffolds (tank and formwork).

Scaffolding work is undertaken in construction and other industries where temporary structures are erected, altered and dismantled.

Course Overview

This course is part of our Scaffolding Training range and is the entry point into the scaffolding licence pathway (class SB). This course covers the below aspects:

Undertake basic scaffolding activities
Complete task

Prerequisites and Course Requirements

Students must be a minimum of 18 years of age
Students must have basic English language and literacy skills
Students must have sound maths skills
Must be able to provide photo ID

Certification

On successful completion of this course the student will receive a Statement of Attainment and be issued a High Risk Work Licence in the class of SB.

The CTF provides funding support for training of eligible workers in the construction industry. We acknowledge the support of the CTF in reducing the costs of training for eligible workers. Training U is an approved bulk biller provider with the CTF.

From 1 January 2015, all students studying nationally recognised training in Australia are required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). A USI provides students online access to their training records and results (transcripts) through their free online USI account.

A USI is required for new and continuing students undertaking nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses to receive their statements of attainment or qualifications. A USI can be obtained at no cost to students and your USI stays with you for life.
You can apply for a USI via the Australian Government Department of Industry Alternatively, with your permission, Training U can obtain your USI on your behalf.
