Course Overview
This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. These individuals take responsibility for own outputs within the scope of their job role and delegation. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.
The qualification that Training U is delivering is specifically for persons wanting to work in Ageing or Disability.
Course Delivery Mode
Training U conducts this course face to face at our Rockingham facility.
Course Duration
This qualification is an 16 week program:
12 weeks of face to face delivery (4 x 8 hour days per week)
160 hours of work placement.
Prerequisites and Course Requirements
- Students must have a pre enrolment interview with Training U before being offered a place.
- Students need to demonstrate they have proficiency in English, some students may be required to sit for a Language, Literacy and Numeracy test (LLN) before being offered a place.
- This course is approved by the Department of Human Services (Centrelink) for student payment.
Certification
On successful completion of this course the student will receive a Statement of Attainment.
Government Funding
Certificate III in Individual Support is Fee free course for eligible students under the Jobs & Skills WA funding.
Eligibility criteria is:
- Australian citizen or an Australian resident (or under appropriate Visa)
- Over 15 years of age, and completed secondary school (or otherwise have an exemption)
- Permanently reside in Western Australia
